CHEERS TO THE GOODWILL DONE WHILE PLAYING IN TRAFFIC

Bill Ebert of the FCA-MAR (Ferrari Club of America Mid Atlantic Region), volunteer with the Baltimore area Childrens Guild, toasts the success of Exotic Car Lovers at putting on spectacular charity events.

The Childrens Guild put on an amazing show with the help of volunteers from local car and motorcycle clubs like Bill Ebert (Ferrari owner), Jeanette Scott (Lamborghini owner), and “Speed” (Ducati rider and owner of Speed Cycles). Thanks to the clever advertising and ad art design from Children’s Guild representatives, the city was ready and awaited the latest event anxiously.

With a bit of extra broad spectrum and regional promotion from Kae Davis (Maserati of Baltimore and MOB EXOTIC CAR GALLERY Guest Services Director, IT Marketing Consultant and hostess of www.mobexotics.com) and help from the staff and Guest Services department of M.O.B. Exotics handing out flyers through Maserati of Baltimore, the crowd turnouts have been impressive for 2008 despite daunting weather forecasts.

Hopefully, the gods and Muses of Ferrari, Maserati, Alfa Romeo, Fiat, Lamborghini, and Ducati will smile on all the next sets of annual events for the upcoming years as a result of the car community’s abiding faith in one another and perseverance in 2008 and bring us a healthy dose of sunshine for all of them. To that wish and goodwill expectations, we hope everyone from the car world reading here will raise their own glass and offer a future toast of cheers.

Saturday September 6, 2008 was a day to remember. With Tropical Storm HANNA hitting the Baltimore Coast and making it’s landfall just in time for the “MASERATI OF BALTIMORE RALLY FOR THE TROOPS”, car lovers around Baltimore were discouraged that we had to request our drivers stay off the road and complete their fun run road rally when skies were going to be more friendly.

AWARDS DEDICATIONS

FIRST RUN OF THE ROAD RALLY

SPIRIT AWARD: FIRST RUN OF THE ROAD RALLY GOES TO JOE AND DOTTY HORDUBAY

By the time we cleared our last set of guests last night (around 9:30 pm) and headed down to the Afterparty at CIAO BELLA RESTAURANT, we decided Maserati of Baltimore was going to give our spirit awards out by Internet first–before we contacted people to say thank you directly.

This first award is for valiant efforts running our road rally and getting the results back to us in a timely manner for grading.

FIRST RUN OF THE RALLY

Owner Joe Hordubay piloted his 2002 Ford Taurus and made a generous VIP level donation to the USO of Metropolitan Washington. His lovely wife Dotty served as his co-pilot, and helped decorate their RALLY GAME PACK with messages of love and support to all of our volunteers and also included a great message for the troops.

COMMENTS ABOUT THE ROAD RALLY AND EVENT

Here’s what the Hordubays had to say about our Passport Rally:

“Great Picture Clues! Beautiful Scenery! Fabulous Planning!”

Their opinion of the Fun Run and HOLY HANNA Brunch?

“Congrats on a VERY Successful EVENT!”

Penciling in their own summary of the day and personal storm story (what they had to overcome this weekend and have done to show support for the troops), Dotty said,

“Thanks for a fabulous day. We arrived home at 8pm to a very “dark” property–no power. So, we did the rally this beautiful Sunday morning [bright and early], hoping power is returned by the time we return home.”

MESSAGES OF SUPPORT FOR THE USO METRO AND OUR TROOPS

Dotty and Joe also left a beautiful quote answering the question, “What the USO means to me…”:

The USO supports those fighting for our freedom. We are grateful to know that our troops are being thanked for their dedication to our country. Great Job!

Keep in mind that this lovely couple had no personal military history (they say they have had relatives in the military, but were not involved directly). That makes their enthusiasm supporting our military a perfect example of the people our armed forces are out and about in the world both protecting and representing.

CLICK HERE TO DONATE DIRECTLY TO THE USO METRO

Thanks, troops–and thank you Joe and Dotty for showing such dedication to promoting our 2008 Maserati of Baltimore Rally for the Troops. It’s the guests, visitors, and volunteers like you who helped us make this event such a tremendous success, absolutely.

A NOTE FROM A FAN

“I came across your pictures you posted from the event in Baltimore and they are awesome! I have never seen so many exotic cars in one place before! I am not sure if we have a dealership like this anywhere in NJ. I thank you for posting such great pictures, the cars, models and everything was done beautifully. I hope you do not mind that I added you as a Yahoo Flickr contact. Now I will go back to reality and my 1996 Corvette! Have a great day. — Bill”

MASERATI OF BALTIMORE RALLY FOR THE TROOPS

For the middle of a quasi-hurricane tropical storm, we have an amazingly full house. Between staff, volunteers, and visitors nearly 200 people were already on site well before noon plus a whole other wave of family and friends are expected to be arriving to keep busy for the rainy Saturday afternoon. We’re writing the outline of this post for early readers on the fly in the middle of the party to let all of our incoming visitors know what’s going on indoors, and we’re going to pop back to smooth out the wording and typset once the day is through.

“I do not think there is any other quality so essential to success of any kind as the quality of perseverance. It overcomes almost everything, even nature.” John D. Rockefeller

The party we’re having to raise some money for the USO is a obviously a hit, and hitting back harder than even the weather can keep down. After beginning on a two hour delayed start this morning, we welcomed our waterlogged rally guests and volunteers in form all corners of the mid-Atlantic region. Please forgive our typos–we’ll be back to edit and share more on Sunday Afternoon.

MASERATI OF BALTIMORE RALLY FOR THE TROOPS SATURDAY SEPTEMBER 6TH 2008 IS STILL ON (PER M.O.B.)

In Baltimore Events, Ferrari, Lamborghini, MOB Exotic Car Gallery, Maserati, Maserati of Baltimore, OPEN NETWORKING “CLUB MEMBERS”, automobiles, car guys, highline, luxury on September 6, 2008 at 8:00 am

Ladies and Gentlemen,

Saturday September 6, 2008 is a big day for the USO Metro and exotic car lovers in Baltimore. Not only are we scurrying about preparing for a visit from “Hanna” (a really sizable storm system expected to be bringing heavy periodic rain and blustery Eastern wind gusts up to 45MPH), we’re rallying car lovers from all over the Baltimore Washington DC reigon to help raise some money and give a public display of moral support for our troops.

Please dress appropriately for wet weather and plan to bring additional jackets, clothes, or shoes so if the skies leave their mark on you, you’ll have the opportunity to take shelter in one of Maserati of Baltimore’s showrooms. Flip flops and tennis shoes are welcome with clothing options and foot wear ready to walk around after the clouds drop an inch or two of rain on our air conditioned venue.

WHO KNEW BRINGING A RAIN PONCHO OR WEARING A BRIGHT YELLOW FOUL WEATHER SLICKER LIKE YOUR MOM USED TO MAKE YOU WEAR WHEN YOU WERE A KID COULD EVER BE THE RESORT CASUAL ATTIRE PROTOCOL THAT WOULD EARN YOU POINTS WITH THE “IN (INDOOR) CROWD AND MAKE YOU LOOK COOL.

Maserati of Baltimore is open for business from 9:00 until 5:00, and after that, we’ve got some “BEST OF SHOW FOR THE USO” Spirit Award judging to start to do. We’re loading patriots two by two into our floodwatch ark and feeding them throughout the days segments with coupons designed for a couple to use.

Plenty of vending purchases are available throughout the day to also feed any accompanying friends or brood.

Come one, come all and support our troops.

Greetings, all.

My name is Kae Davis and as many of our friends and associates know, I’m the girl in charge of this blog. I specialize in IT Marketing and co-ordinating special events. My email has been flooded this morning with guest and volunteer concerns about the weather. I just wanted to take a quick moment on the record to clarify some “off the record” details to pass along to Travelers coming from all across the Mid-Atlantic Region.

We are having a rain or shine event. If the rain is bad or we have high winds, our outdoor cafes and food court areas will move indoors.

Maserati of Baltimore (as an event venue) can comfortably hold 400-600 people with ample floor space remaining to move about–even peppered with a smattering of beautiful Italian high end luxury and ultra-exotic supercars. The great space and atmosphere our MOB EXOTICS staff has been creating this past year leaves me confident everyone will have an excellent day mingling with one another, checking out the automobiles, and eating some amazing food (whether we do it all indoors or out).

As for planning, my team of assistants from Prestigious Innovations, Reign Model Management, and Adore Entertaining are right on top of it all. We (fortunately) had already planned for a great deal of indoor seating for the comfort of our guests–so if we have hurricane winds or related storm fallout, we are setting the event up that morning based on whatever report www.noaa.org puts out.

HIGH END EXOTIC CARS CAN BE DISPLAYED NOSE TO NOSE IN OUR RACE SHOP SO SPECTATORS CAN STAY DRY WHILE VIEWING.

If we can’t run the rally due to wind, the guests will still be receiving the gift bag, having both breakfast and lunch, and can mail in their rally clues. The car show outdoor area will go on as planned. Guests can view the lot from our large windows while enjoying music, lunch, heavy appetizers, and can make themselves at home indoors. For walker safety and comfort, we recommend all our guests and staff wear comfortable soft soled shoes (as pavement and hard tile floors can take their toll on leather soles, especially in wet weather conditions.

The Davis Family

The Davis Family

So that’s the scoop. Rain or shine, we’re in this for the troops as a military-supporting family. If you decide you need a hotel for before or after the event, we recommend staying at the Raddison Cross Keys. They have great rooms and are exotic car parking friendly (with ample covered parking space). We have had great luck with them housing travelers like Jack and myself when we were stuck between Maryland and Virginia due to snow or ice conditions, so if storms prevent safe distance travel, just plan to stay put.

If nothing else, like Jeanette Scott and husband TW reminded us, our brave soldiers are enduring far worse conditions all over the world. If we have to bring our cars out in the rain for a show of support to them and we get a little wet in the process, it’s a small sacrifice to make on their behalf compared to the one they are making for ours.

Feel free to contact me at any time with questions or to arrange indoor displays for special vehicles.

Yours,

Kae Davis
