“It’s that joy and passion that spills over into all our community events…”, sales associate and Ferrari owner Tom Beckman says. “I know that having Jack at the helm means the Mbalt team will be up front and present at all the most exciting community events, putting me directly in a position to both meet and mingle with all sorts of clients and car enthusiasts. I know it’s why my wife Diane was so happy that I made the move here–and now all my buddies who work for Porsche, BMW, Mercedes Benz, Lexus, and all the other car dealerships are jealous that I get to spend my time here.”

Jack Davis knows the Maserati Lifestyle is about more than just driving a CAR--it's about living your life with Style and Passion.

Sales manager Alfred Ramos mentions yet another set of perks regarding car guy events that he learned from Jack (whose father was a car dealer and always sponsoring fun and exciting community events in the 1940’s, 50’s, 60’s, and 70’s and is the inspiration for Jack’s professional and personable demeanor). “With a regular line up of events for myself and my clients to attend, it gives me the opportunity to strengthen my friendships by spending time together in a variety of social settings–and also lets me personally introduce clients to one another, expanding their circle of professional and exotic car enthusiast friends.”

With everyone in Baltimore invited in for glimpses and peeks at our exotic cars and dealership venue events, Jack’s glad to have friends gather HERE at the new launch of the High Road Auto group support website. “I’m glad the guys in Washington are helping us out by giving additional support with their new online platform. It just gives my customers one more road home to find our team here in Baltimore, and we are happy with Chip, Stephen, and Neil Stylinski’s hard efforts getting the HRAG newsletter site up and running this year.”

We’ll keep more pictures coming and do ID tags in the coming weeks for guests. Until then, PLAY IN TRAFFIC and we’ll look forward to seeing you Saturday August 30, 2008 for our ride and dine event and Saturday September 6, 2008 at the MASERATI OF BALTIMORE RALLY FOR THE TROOPS Festival, both right through the dealership at Maserati of Baltimore.

One of the hottest spots in Baltimore last weekend was a car dealership, as a couple hundred glammed-up guests nibbled on hors d’oeuvres and sipped cocktails while surrounded by exotic cars at Maserati of Baltimore. Casino games inside and a cigar lounge outside added to the evening’s pleasures. It all led up to a high-end, high-energy fashion show featuring collections from several area designers. And that was inside the dealership’s garage. A very clean garage, we should add.The evening’s high point came after all but one of the outfits had been shown, when [hosts] introduced guest of honor, Baltimore native and ” Project Runway” winner Christian Siriano, and the night’s one live auction item – a black chiffon cocktail dress he designed for the occasion. The lucky winner? Siriano himself, who bought the dress for $1,300 and then donated the entire amount to the evening’s beneficiaries: children’s literacy programs.

“I know it’s for Maryland literacy programs, which [are] dear to my heart because my mom’s been a reading teacher for, like, 40 years,” he said.

“Fierce,” said Baltimore Business Journal account executive Shawn Hyatt.

“My favorite part was, obviously, Christian. But the whole event was really well done,” said Harford County attorney Sarah Perry. She and friend Rhonda Miller, research coordinator at Wilmer Eye Institute at the Johns Hopkins Hospital, put on a pretty good show themselves in sleek cocktail dresses and elaborate necklaces.

“This is my first runway show ever. I couldn’t believe the models,” said John Lannon, PSA Financial insurance broker.

“I don’t go to too many fashion shows. I’m in construction, but … there were a number of dresses I really did enjoy,” said event honoree Ken Banks.

Long after the fashion show had ended, the garage remained crowded. A throng surrounded Siriano, each wanting a moment with him. So, how was all that adulation fitting the young design star?

“I love it. … Who doesn’t love being adored?” he said, as he posed for photos with fans.

Who WAS that Hot New MENSWEAR Designer at Drive 2 Thrive that Impressed the Maserati of Baltimore Clients So Much? Mi Chiamo Eka

In Baltimore Events, Maserati of Baltimore, OPEN NETWORKING “CLUB MEMBERS”, luxury on August 26, 2008 at 3:33 am

Fashion we love, but fashion writing? We’re afraid we are going to have to keep it on track writing about racing, charity benefits, and the hottest new cars. That’s led us to a writing quandry–

With so many people clamoring on and on about the menswear “Mi Chiamo Eka” displayed at the August 16th, 2008 “Drive 2 Thrive” benefit here at Maserati of Baltimore, we wanted to do a special write up about the promising new designer star, Ebong. One great fashion site beat us to the punch, however, and we were so impressed with how well it was written, we wanted to give them credit right here at www.mobexotics.com and pass the article along.

This one is for all our clients who are beginning to savvy up and regularly read our blog to learn about the next hot new Luxury Lifestyle items in the DC and Baltimore, Maryland regions.

Read on about Mi Chiamo Eka as interviewed by the Glamazon Diaries–a site devotedly reaching out to fashionistas in the Baltimore Washington “Washingtonian” fashion scene… and special thanks to Saran from Reign Model Management for bringing this incredible designer’s information and work and keeping us in the loop with press related to Maserati of Baltimore coming along.

Mi Chiamo Eka Launches in the Nation’s Capital

From K Street to Baltimore, the buzz about Ebong Eka’s new pret-a-porter line of men’s suits and separates has the Beltway in a frenzy. Ebong, who made Washingtonian magazine’s Best Dressed list in 2007, recently launched his clothing line, Mi Chiamo Eka (Italian for “My name is Eka”) on August 5th at the DC hotspot, K Street Lounge. Ebong, philanthropist turned designer’s star-studded launch party brought Washington socialites out for a night of fashion, charity and cocktails. The buzz about Mi Chiamo Eka is not all fluff. In just ten days, Ebong has previewed his collection at three different shows and events and has received media accolades from the Washington Post, DC Style Magazine and bloggers around the Beltway. Sasha Horne, guest writer for The Glamazon Diaries, sat down with Ebong Eka, the Renaissance man, to find out more about how and why he started Mi Chiamo Eka and what is in store for the future.
M.
By day he’s a CPA working 9-5 at a Northern Virginia firm. By night he’s a high-end menswear designer taking Washington by storm.

From the Washington Post and Washingtonian Magazine to DC Style Magazine and Capitol File, Ebong Eka and his pret-a-porter line, Mi Chiamo Eka, has been featured across the beltway.

“I’ve been into fashion my entire life,” said Eka who was born & raised in Toronto, Canada to Nigerian parents.

“Clothing says a lot about you,” Eka explained. “This is why you wear your best suit to an interview. I learned at a very young age that most communication is nonverbal, so to take control of the perception others had of me, I spent time focusing on my look, being consistent and building a personal brand.”

Eka, who moved to Europe in his early twenties to play professional basketball, sites his time abroad as inspiration for many of his designs.

“At 24, right out of college, I moved to England and it was an incredible experience because it gave me the opportunity to learn about other cultures and fashions,” said Eka.

In 2005, frustrated with the lack of fashionable clothing to fit his 6’5 frame, Eka began sketching designs and creating his own suits in a style he described as European inspired.

After several years of receiving compliments and inquiries on where he purchased his custom made clothing, a friend introduced Eka to a tailor. The sketches on the pad and the suits in Eka’s closet came to fruition, and Mi Chiamo Eka was born.

PhotobucketPhotobucket

Eka’s clothing line hit the ground running with the AW08 debut at K Street Lounge early this month. The much buzzed about fashion show featured some of Washington’s most eligible bachelor’s walking the runway in Eka’s signature designs.

Eka’s love of fashion coupled with his belief in sharing success and giving back to the community was evident at the swanky affair. Eka donated a portion of the event proceeds to The Hoop Dreams Scholarship Fund which has helped send more than 900 D.C. public high school students to college.

“The Hoop Dreams Scholarship Fund was founded 13 years ago as a way to provide resources for disadvantaged students in Washington,” said Eka. “I’ve volunteered in a variety of ways in the past and their mission is very important, so I found it fitting to take this opportunity to raise money and awareness for the organization.”

Although the initial launch is over, post-launch, Eka’s phone just hasn’t stopped ringing.

The long days and sleepless nights that Eka described leading up to the launch can be thought of as only a small dose of what lies ahead in his future.

“After the launch, I began receiving calls from people inviting me to participate in their shows,” Eka said.

Mi Chiamo Eka was featured in the Washington Area Concierge Association fashion show and most recently, the Echelon Life & Maserati of Baltimore’s annual Drive 2 Thrive held last weekend honoring Project Runway’s Christian Siriano

So as Mi Chiamo Eka continues to put DC on the fashion map, Eka’s innovative concept of allowing the consumer to be a part of the garment making process is just the beginning.

When asked what’s next for the brand, Eka says he is currently working to make his designs available globally by introducing online shopping as well as the launch of a Spring 09 collection.

“I am involved in the process every step of the way, from the design to reviewing fabric samples and textures,” said Eka. “I pay attention to details, and my goal is to take standard or conservative clothes and make them more versatile.”

With custom designed menswear, and a business model that focuses on the consumer first, Ebong Eka poses the following question to prospective clients, “What do you want your image to say about you?”

REPUBLICANS, DEMOCRATS, AND INDEPENDENTS GET TO VOTE FOR CROWD FAVORITE AWARDS FOR “BEST OF SHOW FOR THE USO”.

With many great press sources coming to participate and offer follow up event coverage, we have a FANTASTIC opportunity to really show support of our TROOP just by showing up. Not enough support from the exotic car community to host a Concorso style event and make it a success? BAH.

CAR GUYS SUPPORT OUR TROOPS. REGARDLESS OF YOUR POLITICS, THINK OF MASERATI OF BALTIMORE LIKE SWITZERLAND (SOMEPLACE NEUTRAL FOR ALL AMERICANS).

More details to be released next week, so check back right here at www.mobexotics.com often to follow up. The game might be on for Sunday with the Baltimore Ravens, but on Saturday at MOB EXOTICS, we plan to have this one won.

Baltimore Ravens 2008 Football is about to begin. Click HERE to visit the Ravens and show support for them this season.

Though we are disappointed with the cancellation of the 2008 “The Concorso: Celebrating the Art of the Automobile” previously scheduled events to be held Saturday September 6th and at BWI and Sunday September 7th, 2008 at Power Plant Live! we are happy to know we can regroup both with and for the troops.

The day before the opening game, Saturday September 6, everyone in the Mid-Atlantic area is welcome to hang out at our dealership. With events canceled for 2008, Sunday September 7 all car lovers and owners can head out to see the Ravens game and park whatever daily driver they use (instead of their exotic car) in what is sure to be a congested but thriving downtown Baltimore. [Every cloud has a Ferrari silver lining?]

If you are at the game, give an extra loud shout out for Maserati man Derek Mason. We know we’re hoping to be there, recovering from our big “Maserati of Baltimore Rally for the Troops” September 6th, 2008 full day dealership Road Rally and “Exotic, Unique, and Antique” Car Show festival to benefit the USO Metro.

Keep a watchful eye out for our staff at the Ravens event. We expect Alfred Ramos will be hanging out in one of the fancy owners boxes, showing support like he always does. Until Jack can manage to have a purple and black Lamborghini built to go along with the Orioles Orange, he’ll probably be the one out back in our SUV tailgating while doing most of the “go team” roar of the crowd cheering and screaming.

September 6, 2008 Car Rally and Car Show is ON at Maserati of Baltimore to Benefit the USO Metro

WHO IS THE NEW SEPT. 6, 2008 ROAD RALLY AND BALTIMORE COUNTY CAR SHOW HOST–AND WHAT HAPPENED TO THE VOLUNTEERS FROM “THE CONCORSO” RALLY CREW?

September 6, 2008 it’s on at Maserati of Baltimore. Road Rally in the morning, hang out for a car show in the afternoon. Afterparty with exotic car friends in Little Italy; it’s what we do. And if you are wonder what we are going to call it now that Dave Born and Jon Kendall promotions are out of the business loop? Thank Neil Stylinski of High Road Auto Group for the great new name of our “stick with it” event… it’s our community CALL TO ACTION plan, aptly named:

Maserati of Baltimore Rally for the Troops

We’re all lined up with breakfast and lunch from Ciao Bella Restaurant, Sweet Lela’s Market Cafe, and Adore Entertaining.

We’re happy to have PSA Financial on hand from insurance broker John Lannon.

Kevin Goodman from Chapin Davis Investments will be on hand to say hello.

Patrick Moylan from Signature Flight Support is confirmed to have a kiosk for our clients to peruse.

We’ll also be announcing some upcoming event surprises working in tandem with Patrick and the USO Metro’s Shauna Van Buren AND the Children’s Guild to boot.

Even better, on the day of the rally (09/06/2008) our service team is lined up to have Caffe Dei Miracoli coffee with everyone and answer mechanic and car detail questions both before and after we hit the road. We hope to see the rise of a “Coffee Clutch” tradition come from the event, so start thinking hard about your questions now and we’ll do our collective best to answer them for you.

As for the details about how our event staffing will be handled and run, Adrienne Trout will be ready to help check people in and collect ticket money and donation to the USO Metro for us.

Randy Moss from the Car Corral will also be on hand helping us review the rally setup.

Chuck Leutner from the FCA and Children’s Guild Friends are also going to be on hand to get the word about about the USO Metro initiative (and to help us promote our local civic participation in the Children’s Guild September 28, 2008 “All Italian Car and Motorcycle” Concours D’Elegance exotic car show helping raise money for their non-profit organization in Baltimore’s Inner Harbor “Harbor East”).

September is a busy, busy month for us this year…

Keep in mind half our staff will also be at the Mount Washington Wine, Art, and Jazz festival that Sunday, Sept. 28th, too–so wherever you are in town that day stop by to say hello and check our incredibly cool cars out. Say hello to Chapin Davis there that day–we’ll be parked nearby their booth.

SO THAT’S THE STORY LINE IN A NUTSHELL, ALL TIDIED UP.

WHAT’S UP WITH THE 2008 CONCORSO IN BALTIMORE

In Baltimore Events, MOB Exotic Car Gallery, Maserati of Baltimore, OPEN NETWORKING “CLUB MEMBERS”, car guys on August 20, 2008 at 4:47 am

YES–THE RALLY INITIATIVE IS STILL GOING STRONG

Despite Dave and Jon’s cancellation notices about our Concorso Rally segment on their personal website, don’t be confused! We are STILL FULLY ON at Maserati of Baltimore supporting the USO. We plan to host our MOB EXOTICS morning rally portion of the event September 6th, 2008 as the event promoters all on our own and Signature Flight Support and Chapin Davis Investments (key sponsors) are on board to help us host an impromptu CAR SHOW in the afternoon.

We’re just calling it “Maserati of Baltimore Rally for the Troops” as a courtesy to “The Concorso” group.

We’ll be rallying starting at 9am as planned on Saturday morning with all our USO Metro friends, Ferrari Maserati of Baltimore and Washington, and Lamborghini MOB EXOTICS clients. Cars can wash up in our service bays from noon until 2. That leaves us 2-6pm for a community car show event–something we simply like to do. The USO Metro is happy to be the beneficiary, too.

THE DETAILS

  1. WE ARE PREPARED FOR 80-100 CARS TO DRIVE OUR RALLY ROUTE (2 PEOPLE PER CAR IS THE REQUIRED SAFE NAVIGATING MINIMUM).
  2. MOB EXOTICS WILL ACCEPT ENTRIES ON AN ADVANCED RESERVATION LIST OR AS A FIRST COME FIRST SERVE.
  3. CAR SHOW SPACES ARE LIMITED TO 100 COMPETING VEHICLES.
  4. OFF-SITE PARKING IS ENCOURAGED FOR SPECTATORS AND LOCAL VISITORS.
  • All rally participants who receive a refund for any portion of “The Concorso: Celebrating the Art of the Automobile” are eligible to attend the rally at NO COST.

  • Guests attending the rally as new ticket holders are requested to make a $25 per car donation.

  • Car Competitors who want a chance to win BEST IN SHOW FOR THE USO will be contributing an additional $50 per entry donation.

  • The USO will be on hand to take additional donations of gifts, money, or simple spectator wishes of support back to the USO Metro lounges at our local area airports.

We appreciate your continued Lamborghini, Maserati, and Ferrari club participation in our Maserati of Baltimore fund raising initiatives. Please make all reservation checks out to the “USO METRO DC”–cash payments will be accepted the day of the event by USO Metro representatives. Updates will be posted on our blog shortly.

CONCLUDING NOTES FROM M.O.B. ABOUT THE 2008 “THE CONCORSO: CELEBRATING THE ART OF THE AUTOMOBILE”

Despite “slow ticket sales” for the other segments of the event, our RALLY TEAM has been rockin’ and is still up and running, wide open, and ready to roll! Thank you, all, for following up. Please contact Jack Davis at mobexotics@gmail.com with ANY questions… and the “official” newsworthy and quotable word from us?

Though we are really going to miss hanging out with the volunteer team folks down at Signature, BWI, and Power Plant LIVE, they have all been invited to come make a day of it with us here at 1628 York Road on September 6th, 2008.

UPDATE: USO METRO SUPPORT CAR RALLY AND EXOTICS SHOW WILL BE HELD SEPTEMBER 6, 2008 RAIN OR SHINE AT MASERATI OF BALTIMORE

In Baltimore Events, MOB Exotic Car Gallery, Maserati of Baltimore on August 19, 2008 at 7:23 pm

Public Service Announcement: MOB EXOTIC CAR GALLERY is absolutely hosting a Baltimore County Car Rally on September 6, 2008 to benefit the USO Metro… but it is NO LONGER “The CONCORSO: Celebrating the Art of the Automobile” 2008 event due to a last minute event promoter cancellation.

Not to be discouraged, we’ve pooled our volunteers list and decised to regroup to host “Maserati of Baltimore Rally for the Troops”. Thanks to Signature Flight Support and Chapin Davis Investment we are even adding on an afternoon Car Show to help raise money to create care package donations to help support our troops and to keep the USO Metro lounges going for the use of all the travelling servicemen and service women.

MOB EXOTICS IS HOSTING A ROAD RALLY ON SEPT. 6 TO RAISE MONEY AND SHOW SUPPORT FOR THE USO METRO

CHANGES TO THE EVENT SCHEDULE AND PROMOTER LINE-UP

September 6th and September 7th of 2008 have had some unexpected developments for weekend warriors and exotic car enthusiasts. Dave Born and Jon Kendall have decided to postpone their event, “The Concorso: The Art of the Automobile”. However, Maserati of Baltimore is still committed to presenting a 2008 fund raiser as part of our pledge to raise money and awareness of the USO METRO program happening in the Baltimore Washington DC areas, so here is where we are now and how we plan to move forward on our own with our own Saturday morning and separate afternoon special fund raising event.

Ladies and gentlemen, time is of the essence and the Drive 2 Thrive Christian Siriano Maserati event photos are beginning to arrive. With a few days to rest and recover, we are anxiously awaiting to see what each persons “take” on the event was… with everyone’s cameras flashing, we want to see this event through the lenses of the public you.

Here’s the deal. Think of our request as your opportunity to sign a big thank you note.

We have the event setup photos posted and have all the photos back and posted that were returned to us from Echelon Life to date. Now, it’s up to the photographers and press to send us back any pictures they have of the event. Amateur and professional photographers are welcome to contribute their items. Send one or two photographs, send a hundred. It’s all up to you.

Did we say YOU? Yes–Help us tell Christian THANK YOU!

If your camera holds a few glamorous clear, artistic, or special friend photos of the “Drive 2 Thrive” nights events, please submit them to Jack & Kae Davis at mobexotics@gmail.com. Please indicate the names of guests, designers, vendors, or models if known. Include your name, website, email, press resource, or photography company represented so Maserati of Baltimore can give appropriate credit and trackback links so viewers who love your photos or photography skills can get back with you.

Don’t be bashful! Submit your own pictures and stand up as a friend of the MOB EXOTICS staff and crew. If you are feeling clever, write a few sentences, a paragraph, or a little story to go with each photo–and sign your electronic signature so we can give credit. Tell us how you found our event and if you love our cars, which one is the ultimate fashion accessory. It’s your chance to say hello to Maserati of Balitmore and let Christian Siriano know how much you love his designs.

It’s not exactly a contest, but we’ll leave it open to the web to decide which are the most popular photos, how many have been declared a favorite, and we’ll post the results right here next month after we’ve had a chance to review.

Bottom line, we (Maserati of Baltimore) were so appreciative of how hard everyone worked to make this special night such an astounding success, we want to be sure to follow though by giving some equally favorable kind words and public opportunity for friendly professional recognition back to you.

Thank you, everyone, for not only enjoying an evening filled with the sparkle and roar of Ferrari, Maserati, and Lamborghini in Baltimore while hanging out with our local stars, but for dazzling us by creating such beautiful scenery of a glam scene with our exotic cars.

Maryland's Talented Christian Siriano

Maserati of Baltimore fans’ hearts SWOONED August 16th, 2008 over the fabulous fashions and the gracious CHRISTIAN SIRIANO. Set against a backdrop of Maseratis, Lamborghinis, and Ferraris the fashion event pictures were staged to be marvelous. The only thing more spectacular than the models was the cleverness of all the designers’ works–and the clothing ideas, styles, and designs were perfectly wearable for gala nights out on the town arriving at VIP Lounges and Rock Star Parking in a Maserati Granturismo, Lamborghi Gallardo, or at any other exotic car red carpet event.

Project Runway’s Christian Siriano
(6:04)
What’s new with fashion icon Christian Siriano? After winning Bravo TV’s 2008 Project Runway competition, the Annapolis-bred up and coming designer has been hard at work designing a number of his own collections. Christian will be back in Baltimore for this weekend’s Drive 2 Thrive charity event. Tom asks about the pressure of his newfound fame, and gets the story on his Maryland-tribute tattoos.

Drive 2 Thrive takes place August 16 at 7:30 p.m. at Mazarati of Baltimore.

Insurance Broker John Lannon (left) and Maserati of Baltimore Salesman and Ferrari Owner Tom Beckman (right) chat along EXOTIC CAR ROW where "first come-first serve" line-up will decide the pace of the afternoon's event for car show competitors and Super Saturday visitors.

Attention Concours D’Elegance Participants:

Maserati of Baltimore’s Jack Davis will open wash bays and his parking lot for a social event from 1pm-5pm on Saturday, September 27th, 2008. Jack says, “We’re offering discounts on products and no charge for personal use of our facility by those registered to display their cars at the “Concours D’Elegance 2008″. Our detail team will be on hand to give professional tips to help jazz up everyone’s ride for this summer festival, an all-Italian car show to benefit the Children’s Guild (happening Sunday, September 28th, 2008 at Harbor East in downtown Baltimore).”

Wet t-shirts will be the dress code at this Soap, Suds, and Scrubs FAMILY STYLE car wash for supporters of the Children’s Guild in Baltimore, Maryland.

If you are coming to Baltimore from out of town or are just a local resident who would have a good time hanging around behind the scenes at M.O.B. Exotics, two bays will be open for use by exotic car owners registered through the Children’s Guild in the show for the following day’s event. Car care bucket kits and car wash products will be available for purchase with two weeks RSVP notice specifying products requests. Ask Vincent Veiga, Parts Manager, for pricing on different detail items or bring your own supplies. Either way, everyone is welcome to attend.

For those not wishing to do the hands on car care work themselves, just email us in advance and let us know. Special discounts for professional detailing are available for all services rendered during the week prior to the event. Service Manager Brian Myer will be taking reservations for details starting August 1st and discounts will be available for FCA and other Italian Car clubs throughout the Mid-Atlantic region or private participants with proof or confirmation of registration. Porters will be available on a first come, first serve basis the day of the car wash to assist with “quick wash” need. The cost for Saturday services will be pro-rated on a special “Friends of the Children’s Guild” price TBD based on the condition of each vehicle.
